Maybe you don’t.
Whatever your thoughts about prayer, take a moment to set aside your preconceptions, look beyond your past experiences, and ask yourself, What if God always does answer our prayers—just not the way we expect him to?

Is it okay to pray for selfish things?
Does a desperate “God help me!” count as a real prayer?
Is a quickly tossed up “prayer-thought” as likely to be answered as a carefully articulated and well-thought-out prayer prayed on your knees before the sun rises?
We all have an impulse to pray, but sometimes when we don’t get the answers we expect, we question whether we know how to pray the right way.
In Six Prayers God Always Answers, Mark Herringshaw and Jennifer Schuchmann point out that the most authentic prayers may not look, feel, or smell like the ones we were taught in Sunday school. Using illustrations from the Bible, history, and pop culture, they demonstrate that prayer isn’t about a specific posture or a recitation of words, but rather the foundation of a relationship—a relationship where some unexpected results can occur.
If you’re frustrated because it seems your prayers often go unanswered, Six Prayers won’t show you how to pray better, but it will show you how to discover the answers you may have overlooked, and how relationship matters more than the words. ...I love this book.
Six Prayers God Always Answers has a casual and friendly approach. Schuchmann and Herringshaw have birthed a serious (but tongue-in-cheek) look at six prayers God always answers, which makes the reader really think about prayer, and what it is. Sometimes, Schuchmann & Herringshaw’s words caught me off guard. I loved the humor. I love this book. – N.S.,
If you’re feeling like I use to—that God can be distant and uninvolved—then I strongly recommend you read this book. Six Prayers will change your faith, and it will change your relationship with the Lord of Answers. You’ll come away enlightened by the many ways that God responds to us. But you’ll also come away reassured by recognizing how he has communicated with your throughout your life. - Patrick
...I would recommend this book to anyone...
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Mark and Jennifer’s book. Not only was it a fun read, it caused me to do some great soul-searching into my prayer life. The greatest reminder for me is that our prayers never fall on deaf ears and sometimes our prayers are best answered when there’s no apparent answer at all! I would recommend this book to anyone- no matter where you are in your spiritual life, it will speak to you in a unique way. Truly- results will vary! - Carrie
